Austin Area Program

delegation

AFSC-Austin conducts education and action projects on economic justice, immigrants’ rights and peace building. We seek to cultivate peaceful communities in a global economy, while emphasizing the interconnections among our three program components. The Austin Area Program partners with three grassroots worker and immigrant-led organizations in Mexico and Texas. Through economic justice and human rights initiatives, these grassroots groups are strengthening the foundations of peaceful communities on both sides of the Mexico-U.S. border. The first-hand experience and knowledge of these communities informs AFSC-Austin programs.

AFSC-Austin works with grassroots partners and activists, as well as faith, university, and community groups, to develop peace and justice movements closely integrated with people’s lives. To this end, the Austin office offers expertise in popular education, an active learning process that raises social awareness, stimulates critical and creative thinking, and leads to action for social change.

Please visit our program pages to see the manifold ways AFSC-Austin is promoting economic justice, immigrants’ rights and peace building in a global economy.
