Hector and Ramona with Iowa Immigrants Voice Program

Ramona Gomez and Hector review a list of clients from El Salvador whom Hector will assist with their renewal of Temporary Protected Status. Ramona retired from AFSC after 26 years of work and now serves AFSC part-time as administrative support for the legal services component of the Iowa Immigrants Voice Program. Hector is a volunteer who takes the spirit of voluntarism seriously.

Iowa Immigration Volunteer on Voluntarism

In this four-minute interview, Hector describes how he found out about AFSC and why he thinks volunteers should give their time freely. Hector and other volunteers are working with Jody Mashek, Legal Services Director of AFSC Iowa's Immigrants Voice Program, as AFSC assists Salvadorans who are renewing their Temporary Protected Status, or TPS.
